The Yule Ball is a celebration held on Christmas Day during the Triwizard Tournament. It takes place in the Great Hall at Hogwarts—and perhaps also somewhere at Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. The Yule Ball is open to students in their fourth year and above; students below the fourth year cannot attend unless someone in the fourth year—or higher—asks them to accompany them. It begins at 8 p.m. and ends at midnight.
During the ball, students are required to wear formal attire or evening wear. It is tradition for the three champions of the Triwizard Tournament to open the ball by entering the hall and dancing with their partners.
